Born in Falkirk, but have lived and worked in Edinburgh’s historical Royal Mile since 2002.

Many of my ideas for paintings come from walking the cobbled streets and closes of the atmospheric old town at night. Inspiration for my figurative and abstract paintings often comes from my diverse interests in European history, folklore and archaeology. Also a love of astronomy, the night sky and chamber music.

I try to create a cast of characters that can only belong in one of my paintings – characters who inhabit a world that can’t be plugged in. A world that you might want to leave before it gets too dark to find your way home.
